Why is it I find myself indoors on a beautiful morning?
Simply put, I am gearing up for the school year that is creeping up so quickly on us. I searched the Web to find refresher worksheets on the concepts we covered in math last year, as well as put together a number/math workbook for Mr. A who will be entering Kindergarten (insert proud mommy smile here!)
Originally I had planned on getting out side earlier in the morning, but our eldest daughter wanted to print off and laminate Dora puzzles for her little cousin. Which then in turn got me onto all sorts of printable activities and worksheets, I could not help myself!
After many fresh cups of coffee later (thanks to my sweetheart of a daughter who learned how to make coffee- for me) we accomplished her tasks and did some prep and planning for the month ahead. I have decided to start earlier this year, maybe because I am itching to get back in routine! Regardless I think we will start the first week in September and spend the first 2 weeks on refresher work to get back in the groove and feel our way around what this year is going to look like. After all, it will technically be 5 kids homeschooled this year, as the almost 3 year old twins do not want to be left out of anything…Keeping that in mind I found some darling toddler ‘cut and paste’ books at Staples that will do just fine for them this year 🙂
Off the topic of homeschooling and onto family life, we have had a wonderful time this summer sneaking in family days here and there between my hunny’s very heavy workload. If you remember my previous post, I mentioned we were sticking around town for the summer months, and it’s been a grand Ole time! We recently were in our town and country fair parade, also spending the entire weekend at the country fair from early morning- rolling out of bed, throwing on hoodies and walking in the beautiful early morning sun and fresh air for an outdoor pancake breakfast. Rides at the fair, cotton candy, face painting, reptile garden and kids tent. We also went out to a sheep farm where a little lamb named Gibbly followed our girlies around. Followed by another fun weekend with cousins sleeping over, swimming, weiner roasts and to finish it off a day at the zoo complete with a picnic at the pond. I feel so very utterly blessed and have surely tucked away many good memories made.
Thanks for checking in and stopping by, be sure to let me know what you have been keeping busy with this August.
